Wakulla County Fire/Rescue Announces Push-In Ceremony

Wakulla County Fire Rescue would like to invite the public to a Push-In Ceremony to celebrate the arrival of the Department’s new fire engine.  The Ceremony will be held on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 9:00a.m. at Fire Station 8, 88 Cedar Avenue, Crawfordville, FL.

Part of the traditional housing ceremony of a new piece of fire apparatus includes having the firefighters and community members “push” the new apparatus into the firehouse. The push-in tradition dates back to the 1830s when fire departments used horse drawn equipment which was difficult to back into the fire house and had to be pushed by the firefighters.

In March 2016, the Board of County Commissioners approved purchasing a new Custom Class A Fire Engine.  Since this is a custom engine, it took a little over a year to complete.  The new fire engine is equipped with a 1,250 gallon per minute pump capacity, extrication tools, and BLS level medical equipment.
