Fire Rescue Captain (Full-Time)

The Wakulla County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Captain within the County’s Fire Rescue Division.  This position will report directly to a Battalion Chief.  Work is all encompassing in a public safety oriented setting.  Employees in this classification are responsible for ensuring the implementation and adherence to directives, general orders, special orders and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all assigned staff. Emplo9yees in this classification oversee all aspects of shift operations in the County. Work involves an element of personal danger and employees must be able to exercise independent discretion in the absence of a superior command officer. Incumbents perform essential functions as outlined herein according to location and functional assignment area(s).
 
Applicants must meet the following qualifications:  High School diploma or GED equivalency certification; Associate's Degree in Fire Science or related field preferred; supplemented by three (3) years full-time WCFR experience with demonstrated knowledge of modern principles, methods and equipment used in fire suppression, prevention and emergency medical response activities. Documentary proof of Certification as a Firefighter and Paramedic by the State of Florida; State of Florida Fire Officer 1; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification; possession of a valid Florida Class E Driver's License without any restrictions that may affect ability to perform the essential functions of the work outlined herein.  Approval by the EMS Medical Director to practice as a Paramedic is required.  Must be current State of Florida Certified Firefighter II.
