Wakulla County Clerk’s Office Creates the Department of Internal Audit and Appoints the County’s First Internal Auditor

CRAWFORDVILLE, Fla – The Wakulla County Clerk of Court and Comptroller, Greg James, is pleased to announce the establishment of the Department of Internal Audit and the appointment of Katrina Cromwell to the newly founded position of Internal Auditor. The Department will ensure that the County and Clerk’s Office are operating as effectively and efficiently as possible. Currently, Cromwell is working closely with Greg James to build the Department and establish its goals and priorities.
 
“The Department of Internal Audit was created for the purpose of enhancing transparency, accountability, and efficiency within our local government and its various departments,” stated James, “I am confident that as Internal Auditor Katrina will prioritize these principles and promote their value.”
 
Cromwell has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Accountancy from the University of South Florida. Originally from Tampa, where she was employed at a Certified Public Accountant Firm, she moved to Wakulla County four years ago and began working as a Finance and Accounting Clerk for the County Clerk’s Office. As Internal Auditor, Cromwell is responsible for conducting financial, compliance, and operational audits. The position aims to establish best practices and work with departments to assist in improving operations.
