Wakulla County Announces Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House for New Fire Rescue Station

Crawfordville, Florida – The Wakulla County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) would like to invite the community to a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House of the new Fire Rescue Station at 318 Trice Lane on Saturday, April 6, 2019.  The Ceremony will begin at 10:00a.m. and staff will be available for tours until 1:00p.m.  This family-friendly event will be a great opportunity to meet the staff and volunteers of Fire Rescue, and learn more about the service they provide.

Wakulla County Fire Rescue operates with 36 full-time staff and 14 part-time staff who provide Advanced Life Support and fire suppression services in Wakulla County.  There is also 25 volunteer fire fighters who respond on an as needed basis.

The BOCC first approved the construction of the new facility in 2017.  The facility is funded through the one cent sales tax public facilities fund, legislative funding, funds from the sale of a portion of the Riversink VFD property, and loan proceeds.  The 13,600 square foot building features 7 offices, 7 bedrooms, a conference/training room, and 4 truck bays that can accommodate up to 10 vehicles.  “We wanted a building where command staff and “boots on the ground” staff could be together, and we are thankful to everyone involved and ultimately the citizens of Wakulla for providing this facility for the men and women who work here,” said Chief Louis Lamarche.
