EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY:  GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT

The Wakulla County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Golf Course Superintendent within the Division of Parks & Facilities Management. This is a highly professional, responsible position with minimal supervision. The position reports to the Director of Parks and Facilities Management.

This position is responsible for directing the maintenance and daily operations of the county golf course. The work consists of varied administrative, course maintenance and supervisory duties. Inclement weather and equipment malfunctions contribute to the complexity of the position. Day to day responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: implementing and scheduling maintenance operations; meet with Director and financial staff to determine budgetary needs; set up and supervise daily operations; ensure grounds are fertilized, inspected for pests; fungus, insects, etc.; plan and assist in periodic construction projects, including greens resurfacing, drainage installation and major irrigation repairs; maintain a full-time presence on the job site and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and/or five years experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the golf course in order to direct and coordinate work within the program. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida’s Driver’s license and any other endorsements necessary to legally operate vehicles used while assigned to this position; must possess good interpersonal and communication skills in order to serve others; must be able to operate a computer.
