EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES:   Fire Inspector

The Wakulla County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Fire Inspector within the County’s Public Safety Department. This position will report directly to the Fire Chief.

Work is all encompassing in a public safety-oriented setting. Employees in this classification are responsible for inspecting existing properties and new commercial construction for compliance with applicable laws and county ordinances; works with Code Enforcement staff to prosecute fire safety code violations; processes inspection requests; meets with property owners building contractors, noting reports of problems and corrective actions. Participate in fire suppression activities as needed.

Applicants must meet the following qualifications: High School diploma or GED equivalency certification; Associate's Degree in Fire Science or related field OR five (5) years full-time firefighting experience with demonstrated knowledge of modern principles, methods and equipment used in fire suppression, prevention and emergency medical response activities. Documentary proof of Certification as a Firefighter II in the State of Florida; current State of Florida Fire Inspector Certification.
