EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY: Director, Animal Services
The Wakulla County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Animal Services Director within the division of Public Safety. This is a highly professional, responsible position with minimal supervision. The position reports to the chief of Public Safety.
This position is responsible for overseeing and managing the overall day to day operations of the Wakulla County Animal Services Division. This includes hiring, managing and supervising staff; handle emergency situations with citizens and animals; resolve citizen complaints; interpret and enforce County Ordinances; work with appropriate county staff to enforce code violations and at the same time advocate for the animals that need care and assistance. Must have the capability to represent the BoCC on cases being litigated for civil infractions. Ensure statutory compliance as warranted. Assist the Director of Grant Services in researching, writing, and submitting appropriate grants for specific projects and operations related to Animal Services.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration and five (5) years related work experience in management, in an animal shelter or related field. Strong supervisory skills are required. Must have the ability to function effectively under pressure. Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record. Must have outstanding communication skills.
