Fred Nichols began his military service in 1993.  He served on active duty for three years in the United States Army.  In 1996, he joined the Military Police Battalion with the Army Reserve unit.  After 9/11, Fred was deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and served in Operation Enduring Freedom.  Once his tour of duty ended, Fred returned home to Wakulla County to continue his career in Law Enforcement.  He retired from the Army Reserve Unit in 2012. Along with his military service, Fred worked as a Deputy Sheriff in both Franklin and Wakulla County.  During his time with Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office, he was also a Detective, Range Master, and part of the SWAT Team.  He retired from the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office as a Captain in 2012.  Currently, Fred works for Federal Eastern International/SRT Supply as a Sales Representative who works with law enforcement agencies throughout North Florida. In 2022 he was elected as Wakulla County Commissioner, District 2. Fred wanted to continue to serve the citizens of Wakulla County and give back to the community. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
