PLANNER

 

The Wakulla County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified applicants for a Planner position in the Planning and Zoning Division.  This is a full-time professional position, which involves technical review of planning and zoning applications; including variances, site plans, rezoning requests, land use amendments, subdivision requests and other land development proposals.  This position also assists in the administration of the Comprehensive Plan and the Land Development Code by providing technical planning information to the public, Wakulla County Board of County Commissioners and the Planning Commission.  Special projects will be assigned to this position as warranted by the Director of Planning and Community Development.

The successful applicant will be knowledgeable in one or more areas related to urban planning such as: comprehensive planning, zoning, infrastructure (storm water, transportation, etc.), or environmental issues.

Minimum qualifications include 18 years of age, high school graduate, a Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Urban Planning, Geography or related field and/or 3 years of applicable experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are required; familiarity with plans review, G.I.S. and/or transportation planning is a plus.
