Wakulla County Fire/Rescue Installs New Power Stretchers
in Ambulances

Wakulla County Fire/Rescue has recently purchased and installed four new power stretchers and power loader systems in its ambulances.

The County received a matching grant from the Florida Department of Health in the amount of $117,473.96, to purchase four new power stretchers and power load systems.  The County’s match was $39,350 which was funded from the One Cent Sales Tax Public Safety Fund.

The new power system lifts and lowers the stretcher into and out of the ambulance, reducing the risk of injury to patients and providers.  This is a vast improvement over the previous manual stretchers and will improve patient transport.  “Emergency medical services are crucial to the health and well-being of our citizens; therefore, it’s important that we provide up-to-date equipment”, said David Edwards, County Administrator.
