Fire Captain Internal Promotional ONLY
This position is open ONLY to current qualified employees of Wakulla County.
The Wakulla County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified applicants for Fire Captain within the County’s Fire Rescue Division. This position will work directly for the Department of Fire Rescue to provide supervision and administrative duties while working a 48/96 shift schedule. In addition to normal supervisory responsibilities the successful candidate will be assigned administrative functions dealing with several areas of Fire Rescue.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 18 Years of Age; High School diploma or GED equivalency certification; Associate's Degree in Fire Science or related field preferred; Knowledge of modern principles; methods and equipment used in fire suppression, prevention and emergency medical response activities. Documentary proof of Certification as a Firefighter and Paramedic by the State of Florida; State of Florida Fire Officer 1; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification; Florida Fire Service Instructor and Live Fire Instructor; Completion of I-300 and I-400 ICS for Expanding Incidents and Supervisors; possession of a valid Florida Class E Driver's License without any restrictions that may affect ability to perform the essential functions of the work outlined herein. Successful completion of a physical examination that meets or exceeds the requirements of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1582, Standard on Medical Requirements for Firefighters; Successful completion of a drug-screening test. Successful completion of an entry-level physical ability test and maintenance of a continued level of physical fitness as required by Wakulla County Fire Rescue; Successful completion of an annual physical, which is required for compliance with existing federal and state regulations for firefighting personnel.
