HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE (HPC)

The Board of County Commissioners adopted Ordinance 2013-04 and Ordinance 2013 19  establishing a Historic Preservation Program within Wakulla County. These ordinances created a Historic Preservation Committee (HPC) and a Local Register of Historic Places. Additionally, the ordinances established criteria and procedures for designation of historic sites, structures and districts and set forth regulations for construction, reconstruction, alteration and demolition of historic sites and structures.

The membership of the Historic Preservation Committee (HPC) is appointed by the Board of County Commissioners and adopted by Resolution. The HPC is charged with reviewing and making recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on matters relating to the designation, regulation and administration of historical, cultural and architectural resources within Wakulla County. Members of the HPC offer expertise in areas of architecture, history, architectural history, planning, prehistoric and historic archaeology, folklore, cultural anthropology, curation, conservation and landscape architecture.  View the list of Current HPC Members.
